Minnesota United Football Club History

Minnesota United FC played their first official game in 2017. The team went 10-6-18 overall and that was only good enough for 19th place in Major League Soccer. The team was just starting, and it was expected that they would need time to grow their strength. In 2018, the team moved up just one position overall, with a final record of 11-3-20. By 2019, the team finished the regular season in 7th place with a 15-8-11 record. They managed to score 52 goals that season. In 2022, Minnesota United finished 11th in the division, with an overall record of 14-6-14. 

2024 Team Makes the Playoffs

After an overall record of 14-7-12 and that was good enough for seventh place and a playoff spot. The team scored 49 points overall. The 2024 Audi MLS Cup Playoffs will begin on October 22, after Decision Day on October 19. The cup game is set for December 7. 

2023 Minnesota United Season Review

For 2023, Bongokuhle Hlongwane lead the team, along with Emanuel Reynoso. Both Hlongwane and Reynoso are similar in scoring stats, with Reynoso doing this in half the minutes on the field.  The club finished the 2023 season with a 10-11-13 overall record. That was good enough for eleventh place in the Western Conference standings. The team did not make the playoffs. 

Forward Teemu Pukki played in 14 games in 2023, starting in 13. He had ten goals and an accurate pass rating of 78.2%. Defender Michael Boxall was signed through 2025, with an option for 2026. Boxall played in 31 games, starting in all of them. For the third time, he amassed nine yellow cards for the season.
