Constructed in 1928, Williams Arena is one of the oldest basketball arenas still in use in the United States. It has been a symbol of Minnesota sports culture for nearly a century. The arena has a seating capacity of approximately 14,625, offering fans an intimate, up-close experience that amplifies the home-court advantage for the teams. The construction of Williams Arena took a swift and efficient 18 months, reflecting the dedication and craftsmanship that went into creating this durable and remarkable sports facility.

The renowned construction company, Madsen Construction Company, was responsible for building Williams Arena. Known for their precision and quality, they have contributed to several prominent buildings in Minnesota and beyond. Williams Arena is home to the University of Minnesota's men's and women's basketball teams,sports teams. Additionally, the attached Sports Pavilion serves as the home court for the Gophers volleyball team. The venue’s versatility makes it a central hub for various athletic events, drawing thousands of fans every season.
